Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Credit Manager to join our Finance team at Standard Chartered Bank in New York. The successful candidate will be working with the Chief Credit Officer as well as other team members to drive origination, develop strong client relationships and be seen as an expert in Finance by internal and external stakeholders. The candidate will need to be able to work with early-stage deal screening and due diligence of new transaction requests, with the ability to unpack complex situations or niche sectors to find out-of-box solutions. The candidate will further have to Influence the team with structuring for best-in-class underwriting standards and to achieve successful and timely transaction execution and syndication.

We appreciate self-driven candidates who will be working closely with the wider SF team, coverage and product partners to develop an understanding of the competitive landscape and identify prospective partners who can address customer needs and accelerate growth. Key Responsibilities

* Work actively with business initiatives to promote revenue growth whilst protecting against the downside risk by identifying the short- to medium-term risks. * Credit approval or recommendation for the prepared credit applications and rating assessments using subject-matter expertise and manage a portfolio of unique counterparties with early-stage detection of credit deterioration (Early Alert Ratings), which includes stress testing. * Participate and present periodic portfolio monitoring reviews with senior stakeholders and senior Risk partners. * Promote Risk to the wider organization and partner Risk peers (including market risk, policy and governance, and enterprise risk management) for risk wide initiatives * Design, maintain and effectively communicate risk control parameters across the Business, including policies, control standards, risk exposure limits and other control levers to maintain the risk profile in line with the Group's risk appetite. * Obtain assurance regarding the effectiveness of the business controls and compliance with applicable laws & regulations. * Approve breaches of Local Portfolio Standards, to the extent permitted by Credit Policy.

Skills and Experience

* Ability to make credit decisions / recommendations with semi-complete information, but sufficient to form a sound, well-grounded credit view, in a compressed time schedule. * Experience in stakeholder management and ability to express and communicate a credit opinion (written and orally). * Experience in approving transactions after reviewing credit and rating proposals in line with defined risk parameters, negotiated credit terms and documentation review. * Knowledge of risk decisions in directing and challenging business to demonstrate that risk origination and control decisions are properly informed and consistent with strategy and risk appetite. * Excellent global portfolio management skills in asset classes and credit risk counterparties as well as understanding each client by geography, industry, and structural differences * Proficient in stress testing as required by internal and external factors and review results and implications.

Key Criteria

* Market and product knowledge: Structured Finance experience within the banking industry. * Risk Management and Control: Demonstrated track record in successful management and ability to manage risk in geographically dispersed and highly varied product base. * Strong understanding of credit risk, financial analysis and structuring, and their application in lending decisions for single counterparty credit risk appetite. * Regulatory Framework and Requirements: Awareness and understanding of regulatory framework in which the bank operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role. * Significant relationship management experience - with external stakeholders at the most senior levels, including regulators. * Awareness and understanding of regulatory framework in which the bank operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.

Recruitment Assessments

Expected annual base pay range for the role is 142,819 USD to 214,229 USD. The final offer will be determined on an individualised basis using a number of variables, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience and education, internal relativity, and specific work location. At Standard Chartered Bank, Base pay is only part of the total compensation package.
