Role Summary

Splunk is looking for interns for Summer 2024 As a

Software Engineer in Test intern , you will work on a real project (or a few) and have an opportunity to enjoy our dynamic, startup-like environment. You will experience Splunking and what defines our culture while honing the skills which separate our development teams from others. Working to support internal and external customer needs, you will collaborate with multi-functional teams, receive mentorship, and gain insight into our values-driven process. Our goal is both to support your growth and development while empowering you for a successful start to your career. You will get to work with smart and hardworking individuals who are doing state of the art development work (native mobile, front-end and back-end, DevOps) in areas of machine learning, data analytics, infrastructure and event correlations across silos to build best-in-class business analytics software. You will be interacting with product management and customers to understand detailed requirements.

What you'll get to do

Craft effective testing tools, test frameworks, and processes to help increase engineering productivity. Use technologies like Splunk, Pytest, Docker, Kubernetes, Git, and much more to deliver continuous quality software to our customers. Become familiar with our existing projects and work on a variety of features and bug fixes to improve these technologies and engineering frameworks. Write effective code to add or modify test tooling, testing frameworks, and write automated test cases using the latest technologies. Reproduce defects in your local environment, integration environments, and write code to fix the bugs and release new versions of the tools. Establish effective communication and forge relationships with engineers, who use our testing tools and frameworks, to identify issues, gather test requirements to verify bugs, new features and feature enhancements. Make an impact through your recommended modifications to processes and procedures, and directly contribute to standard methodologies, architecture, and implementation. Must-have Qualifications

Actively pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or a related technical field, and a strong record of academic achievement At least one semester/quarter remaining to complete after the internship Available to work 40 hours a week for 12 weeks Nice-to-have Qualifications

Ability to unit test your code using appropriate tools and frameworks. Familiarity with object-oriented programming concepts, large-scale software architecture, networking and distributed systems, and UNIX/Linux, Windows, and MacOS environments. Proficient in one or more of the following programming languages including but not limited to Python, Javascript, Go, C++, Java. Familiarity with REST API and microservices is a plus. Familiarity with CI/CD concepts is a plus. Familiarity with tools and technologies like Git, Gitlab, AWS, Docker, GCP is a plus. Ability to collaborate with others in a fast-paced environment. Note: Base Pay is based on a candidate completing 3 years of university or the academic equivalent Base Pay SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro and New York City Metro Area Base Pay: $50 per hour California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts Base Pay: $45 per hour All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area. Base Pay: $42 per hour Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills, year in school and experience of the candidate.
