This is a full time direct hire position.Skills and Experience: Familiarity with a range of department machines, including CNC machines, CNC lathes, cylindrical grinders, milling machines, engine lathe, tracer lathe, crush foam grinder, drill press, EDM equipment, Bridgeport mill, radial arm drill press, measuring tools, and optical comparator Working knowledge of reference calibration standards and electrodes Experience in CNC programming and the ability to make changes to CNC programs Proficiency in shop mathematics, machinability of materials, and layout techniques Understanding of testing procedures and guidelines Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment Positive attitude and effective communication for seamless collaboration Adaptability to fast-paced and dynamic work environments Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to recommend process enhancements Ability to work on a variety of machines and tools, contributing to a team approach to problem-solving Responsibilities: Independently operate department equipment, demonstrating a strong understanding of testing procedures and guidelines (excluding NDT & RCBs) Perform machining of test specimens and parts using CNC and other lathes Set up and operate cylindrical grinders to produce low-stress ground test specimens Machine blank samples into reference standards based on provided blueprints or drawings, documenting all relevant information Manufacture, maintain, or machine jigs, fixtures, or parts required for the Met Lab or other departmental needs Calibrate movements on milling machines, electric discharge machines, surface roughness indicators, and micrometer sets Read lab travelers and determine furnace utilization Report any out-of-calibration conditions (as found) to supervision Undertake additional duties and special projects as assigned Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience Proficient in MS Office, including Outlook and Word Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to organize and prioritize tasks Capacity to make sound decisions independently Ability to operate department equipment with minimal supervision
