About the Role

As a Security Engineer at Nuro, you will play a key role in securing the future of autonomous vehicles. In this role, you will secure our vast cloud

infrastructure against advanced threats. You will be putting in guardrails to allow our R&D teams to move fast in the cloud, and you will closely review and audit our most critical cloud environments. You will design and implement improvements to our core security services like inter-service authentication and authorization, vulnerability scanning, etc. You have good judgment when evaluating risk and proposing mitigations. The safety and security of the people in the communities in which we operate is your north star. As an engineer on our team, we’ll help you invest your time into the most promising areas to make a difference. You’ll have the autonomy and opportunity to have an impact on any layer of the stack, and expand your knowledge and skill set in virtually any security domain. You will be constantly learning and teaching others about a changing threat landscape. About the Work

Assess security posture across Google Cloud Platform while focusing on safety and protecting user data. Propose fixes for vulnerabilities when you find them, but also work towards systemically eradicating classes of vulnerabilities through better tooling. Design and implement core security infrastructure like authentication and authorization systems, policy as code, etc. Work towards making the secure path the easy path for our engineers Create a delightful experience for our employees and engineers. Increasing their productivity while improving infrastructure security is top of mind for you. About You

Experience with Google Cloud and Kubernetes is required. Experience implementing and enforcing cloud security best practices in a fast-moving organization at scale. Ability to analyze and identify security shortcomings in complex software systems with a hacker mindset and technical skills to propose and implement solutions. You have demonstrated an ability to thrive in the ambiguity of a dynamic, start-up environment or have an interest in doing so. Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills; the ability to communicate complex interaction concepts and risks clearly and persuasively in a highly eng-driven environment. Experience implementing policy as code. Experience implementing infrastructure as code. Strong software development skills, preferably in Python, Go, or C++. Open source contributions, published papers, or conference presentations. At Nuro, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. For this position, the reasonably expected base pay range is between $125,000 and $188,000 for the level at which this job has been scoped. Your base pay will depend on several factors, including your experience, qualifications, education, location, and skills. In the event that you are considered for a different level, a higher or lower pay range would apply. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus, equity, and a competitive benefits package.
