Job Description: The Traffic Design Engineer provides technical direction and recommendations to managers, engineers, local governments, and consultants for traffic related issues: traffic analysis, traffic studies, signal design, and lighting design. The position is E3 or E4 based on technical expertise. Specific activities of this position include but are not limited to traffic analysis/recommendations on number of lanes, level of service, and queue lengths that comply with departmental and federal and state guidelines for scoping transportation projects; signal design and operational improvements projects and signal optimization projects; complete traffic studies and traffic impact study review; perform warrants and justification for the installation of traffic signals and roadway lighting; and provides expertise to support department management through activities such as presenting information at public meetings or representing the department on technical panels.

Position Requirements: Only applicants with a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field will be considered. Applicants should possess or be eligible to obtain a Professional Engineering license. Five to eight years of transportation engineering experience related to traffic engineering is preferred. This position is within the engineer level 3 to level 4 Salary range depending on experience.

Compensation: The total compensation of Hourly Wage + State/Federal Benefits for a typical year for an entry-level Traffic Design Engineer is approximately $101,848.00 annually.
