Reporting directly to the Vice President of New Store Openings, this role is instrumental in synthesizing data from diverse operational areas such as real estate, merchandising, operations, and logistics. The Sr. Analyst develops actionable insights through several data sources, synthesizing key outputs with recommendations on how to address. By transforming complex datasets into actionable intelligence, this role supports strategic decisions that optimize both the pace and quality of store openings, directly influencing Burlington’s growth objectives and competitive position in the retail market. The role requires someone that can manage complex data, find actionable insights, build effective reporting, and understand systems to help drive better integration in our new store delivery process. Key Responsibilities: Data integration: Develop scalable datasets from diverse sources to build a single source of truth prior to opening new stores as well as after they are open for the first 90 days. Data insights: Leverages datasets to develop insights that help explain root causes of performance and put actions against them. Reporting: Key owner of building a simplified set of reporting to help inform and drive actions at different parts of the Burlington organization (from C-suite to frontline). Systems understanding & integration: Will build and manage a data dictionary to act as our team’s source of truth on where key data exists (or needs to be created) with an ongoing plan to build more systems integration. A Day in the Life Advanced Analytics & Data Strategy Develop predictive analytics and machine learning algorithms to forecast potential delays and identify factors impacting new store success. Conduct scenario analysis to continuously evaluate the impacts of different strategies on new store performance. Collaborate with IT to ensure the robustness and scalability of the analytics infrastructure, supporting real-time data analysis and reporting. Reporting System Development and Management Build customized dashboards and automated reports that track key performance indicators like project timelines, budget adherence, and operational readiness at new store locations. Regularly review and update reporting tools to ensure they meet the evolving needs of the business and provide end-users with intuitive, actionable insights. Ensure data integrity and validation processes are in place to maintain accuracy and trustworthiness of reports. Train end-users on new reports and dashboards, providing support and documentation to ensure effective usage across departments. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Support Act as the key liaison between the analytics team and operational departments to ensure data needs and reporting requirements are met. Provide analytical support for cross-functional project teams, helping to optimize processes such as merchandise allocation, staffing models, and store layout planning. Facilitate data-driven meetings and workshops with stakeholders to discuss findings, gather feedback, and align on data-driven strategies. Integrate feedback from operational teams into analytics models to refine and improve the relevance and impact of data outputs. Innovation & Process Improvement Investigate and recommend new technologies or data sources that can enhance analytical depth or efficiency, such as IoT devices for real-time tracking of store setup processes. Lead continuous improvement initiatives to streamline data collection, analysis, and reporting processes, reducing time-to-insight for critical business decisions. Pilot and evaluate the impact of new analytical tools or methodologies on a small scale before broader rollout, ensuring feasibility and value-add. Document best practices in data analysis and model development to standardize and share knowledge across the analytics team.
