Job Summary:

The Authorization Specialist is responsible for managing the care contracts between different payor sources and the Company. This role is tasked with reviewing the contracts for the hours of care that can be provided, requesting new contracts before they expire, and communicating any changes to our team members. This is a collaborative role as you will interact with the Care Manager, Scheduling, Billing, and other departments across the Company.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage authorization requests from intake to final service
  • Communicate with other internal departments and outside agencies
  • Closely review contracts for changes in service levels, start and end dates
  • Request new authorizations for our clients as needed
Requirements:
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize projects based on urgency and importance
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Effective communication skills over email, in-person, and on the phone
  • Organization skills to track which projects are still to be completed
  • Detail oriented mindset as the authorization is the starting point for care services
  • Prior knowledge of healthcare industry is a plus
