Assess nutritional needs, develop and implement nutritional care plans, evaluate and report the resultsappropriately.a. Develop and implement a plan of care based on a timely, accurate and comprehensive assessmentof the nutritional needs of each resident correlated with the interdisciplinary team.b. Participate in quarterly care conferences and special family conferences as needed .c. Monitor and record regularly in the medical records, the progress of all residents.d. Identify residents at "Nutritional Risk."e. Communicate orally and via written communication, pertinent aspects of nutritional care plan toappropriate clinical personnel, food service personnel and other health team members.f. Evaluate appropriateness of diet orders and make recommendations.g. Counsel residents and families in nutritional principles, dietary plans/goals and dietary restrictions.h. Interpret; evaluate and utilize pertinent, current research related to nutritional care.i. Serve as a resource for nutritional information in the facility.j. Maintain current knowledge of methods and approaches for the provision of nutritional care.k. Maintain and evaluate meal service policies and procedures and make recommendations to Directorof Dietary and Executive Director.l. Develop long- and short-term goals related to nutritional care.m. Develop and implement policies and procedures related to nutritional care.n. Evaluate the quality of nutritional care services routinely.2. Coordinate activities with the Director of Dietary.a. Assist with planning menus to meet the specialized needs of geriatric and physically impairedresidents.b. Evaluate the cycle menus routinely for nutritional content, cost and resident acceptance.c. Assist with planning therapeutic menus.d. Assist in developing standardized recipes for all menu items to provide quality, quantity control andconformance to dietary prescriptions.e. Evaluate sanitation and safety procedures for conformance to quality standards and healthregulations.f. Develop and implement continuing education programs for dietary and nursing personnel.g. Assist with budgeting.h. Make recommendations for food and supply purchasing.i. Conduct or assist with department policies and procedures.3. Attends required in-services and completes assigned online modules.4. Represent the department at various committee meetings as requested.5. Attend required seventy-five (75) hours of professional continuing education every five (5) years.6. Perform other department duties or special assignments as directed by the Director of Dietary orExecutive Director.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform eachessential duty satisfactorily. Registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association.2. Minimum of one year clinical nutrition experience in a geriatric healthcare setting.3. Verbal and writing abilities necessary to communicate work effectively with various levels of staff,residents, family members and the public, required documentation in medical records.4. Numerical ability necessary to make various computations in calculating diet patterns, tube feeds,nutritional requirements and assisting the Director of Dietary in his/her responsibilities.5. Ability to apply principles of personnel administration to assist the Director of Dietary in his/herresponsibilities.6. Able and willing to work flexible hours to attend special family conferences or meetings.7. Stands and walks intermittently throughout the working day. Visual acuity for reviewing medicalrecords and completing forms. Color discrimination in evaluating appearance of prepared food andattractiveness of meal trays. Taste and smell discrimination in evaluating palatability of prepared food.8. Exposure to temperature and humidity changes as in entering refrigerated storage areas, dishwashingand food preparation areas.9.
