**Transportation Specialist - Kansas City, KS**

**Location:** Kansas City, KS
*$16.30/hour*
The purpose of this position is to safely and efficiently transport patients for our PACE program to and from appointments, the Day Center and their homes. This position is responsible for assisting patients/participants in and out of their residences as well as in and out of different medical/social buildings. Main responsibility is driving a bus, though may drive other vehicles on occasion. This position is supervised of the Transportation Coordinator, in accordance with organization policies and procedures and will report patient/participant needs and concerns to the supervisor.
Midland Cares Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) is a not-for-profit health care program that helps people at risk for needing nursing home care who meet a level of care requirement stay in their own homes and communities.
For Midland Care PACE participants, PACE means a team of experienced doctors, nurses and other health care professionals getting to know the participant and working with him or her to design a plan to aid in achieving health goals.

**Typical Hours of Employment:** 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday

**Qualifications**
Required:
*

Must possess a valid Kansas or Missouri Drivers License (within 30 days of hire for out of state licenses), current automobile liability insurance and maintain a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) that meets organizations insurability standard as defined by Midland policy. These must be current at hire and remain in effect throughout employment.
*

Must be able to pass a Department of Transportation physical and drug screen. Must continue to pass these throughout employment. Must have a current DOT physical at all times.
*

Availability of reliable transportation is required for this position.
*

Due to insurance company requirements, must be 25 years of age or older.
Preferred:
*

Prior driving experience.
*

Any level of WORKReady certification through the Kansas WorkKeys program (available through any Kansas Workforce Center).
*

One year of experience working with a frail (elderly or disabled) population.
**Physical Demands**
Must be able to continuously sit, stand and walk, climb stairs, and remain in uncomfortable positions for prolonged periods of time. Must have visual acuity sufficient to continuously note changes in non-verbal communication of patients, families, and others. Must have hearing acuity sufficient to hear verbal instructions and communication from participants/patients, respond to emergency alarms, and answer the telephone. Must be able to concentrate on moderate details with frequent interruptions, attend to specific functions for 10-25 minutes, remember multiple tasks and assignments over an 8-hour period, and understand and relate specific ideas and concepts. Must be able to deal effectively with stress, participants/patients and their families, multiple tasks, noise, interruptions, and emotional loss, and to work cooperatively with other members of the interdisciplinary team while maintaining a pleasant and professional demeanor. Must be able to travel to and access participant/patient homes where conditions may be adverse due to weather, environment, or patients lifestyles. The position can be physically demanding. Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. Must be able to bend, squat, and get up and down off the floor without assistance.
