Vaco is hiring for a Senior Accountant opportunity in Brooklyn Park MN. This is a Direct Hire position that sits onsite

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial records, assisting with financial reporting, and supporting various accounting functions. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within the team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • General Ledger Accounting:

    • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
    • Prepare and post journal entries accurately and timely.
    • Ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded.

  • Financial Reporting:

    • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
    • Support the development of financial reports for management and stakeholders.
    • Conduct variance analysis and explain discrepancies.

  • Month-End and Year-End Close:

    • Participate in the month-end and year-end closing processes.
    • Prepare necessary documentation and reconciliations to ensure a smooth closing process.
    • Assist with the preparation of audit schedules and liaise with external auditors.

  • Accounts Payable and Receivable:

    • Oversee and process accounts payable and receivable transactions.
    • Ensure timely invoicing and collections.
    • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies.

  • Tax Compliance:

    • Assist with tax filings and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
    • Prepare necessary documentation for tax returns and audits.

  • Internal Controls:

    • Maintain and enhance internal controls to safeguard company assets.
    • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

  • Process Improvement:

    • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of new accounting systems and procedures.
Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • CPA or CPA candidacy is preferred.

  • Experience:

    • Staff Accountant: 2-4 years of accounting experience.
