The payroll specialist is responsible for accurately processing payroll transactions, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as relevant local, state, and federal regulations. They collaborate with various departments to gather and input payroll data, resolve payroll discrepancies, and provide support for payroll-related inquiries.

How will I contribute
  • Process payroll transactions accurately and timely, including but not limited to salary payments, overtime, bonuses, differentials, and deductions.
  • Verify timesheets, attendance records, and other payroll inputs for accuracy and completeness.
  • Calculate and process payroll adjustments, such as retroactive pay, terminations, garnishments, workers compensation and leaves of absence.
  • Process month end calculations and reporting for leave accruals, worker's compensation
  • Prepare and distribute payroll reports, statements, and summaries to management and relevant departments.
  • Prepare and process EEOC reports annually.
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies to ensure accurate financial records.
  • Stay updated on changes in payroll laws, regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters, including taxes, deductions, and benefits.
  • Collaborate with HR and accounting departments to ensure seamless payroll processing and accurate record-keeping.
  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of payroll software systems and procedures.
  • Assist in monthly insurance billings reconciliation.
  • Assist with open enrollment process.
  • Assist in monitoring the 401k enrollments, changes, withdrawals for employees.
  • Assist in Mid-Year Census and Annual Census for 401k.
  • Assist with tax reporting and forms required monthly and at year end.
  • Manage the Taxable Life Insurance set up annually.
  • Participate in payroll audits and provide support during internal and external audits as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned
What I bring
  • High School Diploma (or Equivalent)
  • 5 years prior experience in payroll processing or closely related field
  • Class C Driving License
  • Strong understanding of payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements
  • Proficiency in payroll software and MS Office applications, especially Excel. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field. Preferred
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) / Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) preferred.
