Job Description
Our Financial Reporting Analysts serve as vital members of our accounting and finance organization. The analyst team is comprised of individuals who have a proven track record of expanding their value-added impact far more broadly than a traditional accounting role would allow. They serve as the experts on the financial health and performance of our legal entities in the Americas, including trading, renewable asset, and service companies. Because the Analysts develop an in-depth knowledge of how Vitol operates its businesses, the team frequently takes on the role of aiding our investment and deal teams in the integration of our new businesses. They also play an integral role in getting businesses market-ready and supporting sales processes by interfacing directly with our transaction partners, external service providers, and our auditors.
As a group capable of providing meaningful analyses and detailed insight, they are called upon regularly and often by Senior Management to provide information used in senior regional and global decision-making processes. Vitol’s Accounting organization couples a dynamic and challenging work environment with a team eager for growth, learning, and career development.
Specific Job Duties Include:
Supporting investment and deal teams in new business integration and/or sales processes
Regularly engaging in discussions with cross-functional teams to understand business processes and monitor/improve financial controls
Performing the accounting month-end close processes for various legal entities
Regularly engaging with accounting teams in all North and South America offices including: Mexico City, Bogota, Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires
Performing monthly/quarterly analyses to be reviewed by the CEO and Senior Management team to aid in decision making
Supporting the annual external audit process
Other duties as assigned. This job description is subject to change at any time
Attendance is an essential function to this role
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting
Prior Big 4 audit experience (2 busy seasons) preferred
CPA license
Exposure to commodities trading is preferred
Successful candidates will:
Be curious, creative, and up for a challenge
Have a genuine desire to build relationships across a global business
Be comfortable undertaking new concepts and ideas associated with a fast-paced, dynamic business
Have strong quantitative, analytical, and critical thinking skills
Continually assess, challenge, and improve processes
Have a strong sense of accountability and ownership of key deliverables
Be an open communicator who is eager to share and receive information
Earn the trust of others by continuously demonstrating the ability to follow through

Work Environment
