JOB TITLE: Welding Engineer

REPORTS TO: Structural VP/GM

SUMMARY

The Welding Engineer manages the welding program

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESImplement & manage the welding programDevelop welding proceduresOversee the PQR processRequired to perform miscellaneous tasks as assignedReview work specification and related drawings to determine new weld process needsReview internal processes and reference to work requirementsDetermine OQE requirements based on the fabrication requirementsManage assigned personnelEnsure work is done safely and meets quality standardsWork with team members to maximize productivity and efficiencyManage budgets and determine corrective course of action for negative trend

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESAbility to synthesize and analyze complex and diverse informationIdentify, troubleshoot and resolve critical issues in a timely manner, particularly those related to the structural integrity of maritime vessels.Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to lead and facilitate presentations for internal and external constituentsStrong negotiation skills with ability to exercise tact and diplomacyAbility to delegate work assignments, give authority to work independently, and monitor final outputAbility to inspire and motivate others to achieve organization-wide goalsIn-depth knowledge of budgeting, funding, and cost control measuresIn-depth knowledge of quality assurance and quality control processes and methodologiesIn-depth knowledge of ship repair and maintenance processes commonly found in the manufacturing and marine industriesIn-depth knowledge of standard safety and security procedures related to equipment and materials

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEEngineering Degree, or 15 years of experience in Ship Repair.Requires a minimum of 2 years of management experience with direct supervisory responsibilities

WORKING CONDITIONSMost work performed under pressured, fast-paced conditions; frequently requires overtime

EQUIPMENT USEDComputer, telephone, fax machine, copy machine, adding machine, scanner
