Job SummaryJames Avery is excited to announce an Engineering internship in Manufacturing. The Engineering Intern will have an opportunity to work with experienced professionals to support engineering efforts through a time study project.The Engineering Intern will develop skills through training and practical application to successfully conduct time and motion studies, measuring work patterns and methods of Associates with the goal of developing accurate value-added, setup and admin times. Follows Associates through all the different manufacturing steps to make the jewelry and note deviations from the provided work instructions. Actively participates in departmental meetings and reports progress and opportunities for improvements on assigned projects. This is a Part-time internship opportunity from April 2024 through October 2024 with flexible start and end dates. Plant operation hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm. Interns must be available between the hours of operation. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:Performs the following essential functions closely supervised by the Manufacturing Engineer, Section Leader and/or Management:Assists with conducting effective time studies and routing verifications using the defined procedures for Engineering standards. Performs time studies for quantity requested, verifying correct tools and methods are being used and reports any deviations from prescribed methods.Reviews routings and work instructions for assigned product Designs prior to data collection.Collaborates with Section Leader on timing and selection of Manufacturing Associates for data collection and research to ensure conformity with first pass yield quality. Observes and notes recommendations for continuous improvements that could enhance quality, efficiency and review collected data with Manufacturing Engineer.Performs additional duties and works on various engineering projects as assigned by Manufacturing Engineer. WHAT IS REQUIRED:Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate student in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Engineering or related field with an overall grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 grade point scale.Must have a valid State Driver's License and be able to meet James Avery's driving requirements.Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office suite. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.Ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously and manage frequent interruptions.Must be able to work a flexible schedule when business need requires.Ability to travel to other work locations as needed. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student in an accredited college or university with a minimum of 60 semester hours pursuing a degree in Industrial Manufacturing, Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Metallurgy.
