Typical Work Schedule: Days (Monday through Thursday from 8am-5pm and Friday 8am-2pm)
Primary Shift: Shift 1
Work Type: 1.0 FTE (full-time, 80 hours biweekly)

SUMMARY
The purpose of this position is to perform the functions of assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care in accordance with established nursing care standards. This includes the following:

1. Accurately document all findings and instructions.
2. Assist physician to ensure timely and efficient patient flow.
3. Sterilize equipment and set up supplies for medical examination and procedures.
4. Screen and process patient phone calls relating to clinical matters for the most effective patient care. Ensure appropriate follow-up.
5. Ensure appropriate follow-up on all test results.
6. Administer injections and medications; perform routine lab tests such as urinalysis, pregnancy tests and wet preps; perform tests and procedures such as EKG's, lab tests and phlebotomy as required.
7. Call prescriptions to pharmacy as ordered by physician.
8. Ensure processing of Physician's orders.
9. Carry out additional duties that may be assigned by physician, within guidelines of medical assistant certificate.
10. Greet and escort patients to exam rooms; prepare for physician's visit by obtaining initial information and vital signs; discuss and record chief health concerns; assists with exams, tests and special procedures as directed. 11. Prepare patient charts for office appointments; orders and files results of tests, procedures and dictation in charts; ensure all charts are complete; request previous records and information from appropriate source; review and maintain current patient information in chart.
12. Prepare patient appropriately for examination or treatment.
13. Inspect exam rooms for cleanliness and equipment condition; maintains sample medication closet; stock and maintain rooms and nurses' station with adequate supplies.
14. Schedule consultations and tests; pre-certify patients for insurance coverage; set up referral contacts; review all requisitions (lab and x-rays) for completeness.
15. Monitor and record sample drugs and narcotics.

QUALIFICATIONS
1. Certificate or Associates Degree in Medical Assistant Program or equivalent experience.
2. Previous physician office experience preferred.
3. BLS certification required.
4. Pennsylvania state police criminal record check, child abuse history clearance and an FBI criminal history check required.
