Staff Accountant
Overview
The GBS Group, an engineering services and consulting firm, is seeking a motivated and reliable accounting team member to join our team at our main office located in Virginia Beach. As a Staff Accountant, you will support and assist the Accounting Department in the day-to-day operations.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Support duties related to accounts payable and accounts receivable functions to include vendors setups, responding to vendor inquiries and reaching out to customer for payment information updates.
* Support the Project Control Department with Subcontractor invoice receiving, tracking, routing for and verifying approvals to the appropriate PC and Project Manager
* Research and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
* Maintain confidentiality of all financial data
* Interpret and apply accounting policies, rules, and regulations to all work to ensure compliance with applicable standards.
* Perform basic office task such filing records and compile and prepare routine reports as needed.
* Reconciliations, expense reimbursement payments, payroll liabilities
* Provide support for closing a period and financial reporting as needed.
Qualifications:
Candidates for this position must possess the following professional experience and qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in accounting
* General ledger knowledge and experience with accounting software Microsoft Business Central is highly desirable.
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications a must.
* Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of vendors/customers
* Self-motivated and highly organized. Work well with little supervision. Team player.
* Desire to learn and take on increased responsibility over time supporting the Accounting Team Manager/Controller
