Assistant Project Manager (Charlotte, NC; Greensboro, NC; ...)

The Assistant Project Manager reports to the assigned Project Manager and is responsible for supporting the Field activities of the project management team. The Assistant Project Manager shall generally be responsible for assisting with planning, scheduling, assisting with estimating and maintaining detailed and accurate documentation on assigned projects. The Assistant Project Manager will also work with the Project Manager, Project Superintendent or Management to define the requirements for each project. This person will also be responsible for assisting with coordinating field activities to ensure efficient use of company resources and while providing quality control oversight of assigned projects. The Assistant Project Manager shall maintain constructive relationships with clients and other contacts in order to ensure their satisfaction with the work performed by Starr Electric and to further this work. This position requires an individual who is a team player with strong inter-personal and organizational skills, effective attention to detail skills, the ability to problem solve, manage multiple projects and the ability to adjust work accordingly to adapt to tight deadlines. Extensive administrative assistant experience required, preferably in the construction or service industry. Additional responsibilities may include responding to non-routine correspondence as well as assembling highly confidential and sensitive information.

Duties and Responsibilities – Essential Functions

Assist in the planning, organizing, and scheduling of activities relating to Management of projects including budgeting, control of purchasing, profit projection, change order processing, document control, and the scheduling of job specific tasks with field and customer personnel. Assist in the

monitoring of work practices, regulations, and ensure standards for production and quality of company projects are being met. Coordinate the material requirements of the site project with the appropriate authorities/entities. Ensure all materials that meet the requirements of the clients are provided in a timely manner and in the correct location. Assist with the creation and production of project proposal books and project presentation information for project interviews. Assist Project Managers in the provision of estimates, for projects and change orders, as required to meet company schedules. Responsible for development of project specific Pre-Qualification materials and prepare concise responses for customers. Attentively participate in job-planning meetings, job progress meetings, and site visits as required. Responsible for the record maintenance and distribution of employee training programs. Travels to job sites, other SEC offices, or other locations to perform functions. May be assigned to work full-time on a specific jobsite. Provides support and performs administrative office functions as directed by the appropriate authorities. Informs Project Manager of any changes/complications/emergencies in a timely manner. Performs other related and incidental duties as required/assigned.

Job Specifications (knowledge, skills, and abilities) Proficient in Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint). Ability to learn and effectively utilize project management software (s). Skilled at creating detailed files, file maintenance, and disposition of personnel and company records and maintaining confidentiality. Proficient in writing concise and informative internal and external correspondence. Ability to focus, organize, and prioritize essential functions of this job in order to meet deadlines. Ability to foster and maintain teamwork skills. Demonstrates proficient and professional communication skills. Able to be flexible and adjust to sudden demands.

Education, Experience, and/or Prerequisites:

A bachelor’s or associate degree in construction management, engineering, business administration or business management, four (4) year electrical apprenticeship graduate, or five (5) years of field related experience in the commercial/industrial electrical industry preferred.

Starr Electric is a business casual working environment. Normal office hours are 8am – 5pm but can be somewhat flexible. This position will start as hourly with bringing individuals on a need basis. It will predominantly be in the office or at home but will require you to be in the field trailer at times if not for extended periods. PPE to be required anytime in the field. Normal work hours in the field to be set by the project manager.
