We want your knowledge and expertiseApply today for our Lactation Consultant-PT-Day Shift opportunity.Job Summary and QualificationsThe Lactation Consultant enhances the breastfeeding experience of the mother/baby dyad through education of the patient and staff, giving direct patient assistance, and assessing and managing breastfeeding problems.The Lactation Consultant also determines the need for breastfeeding devices and aids, distributes them, and educates in their use.What you will do in this role:Participates in the development, coordination, managing, facilitating, conducting, and evaluating of onboarding and orientation programs for nursing and other healthcare personnelConducts orientation in a manner that facilitates a positive learning environment. Incorporates organizational values/culture into the orientation processIdentifies learning needs of staff and assesses practice gaps, comparing competencies to actual practice. Plans educational content with learner engagementPartners with the Clinical Education Market Director to review outcomes data to evaluate and refine aptitude management activitiesDemonstrates an expertise of adult educational theory and the ability to apply evaluation methodologies, (i.e., Kirkpatrick) into courses and curriculum to refine clinical programsWhat qualifications you will need:Required Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing or enroll in a BSN or advanced degree program and obtain a BSN within 5 years of hire date into RN position. Grandfathering will be accepted between departments and Mission Health entities. Exemptions, or extensions, may be approved by the facility CNO and reported out to the CNO Council members. Each facility will ensure tracking of exemptions should this information be needed. RNs with 10 years or more of experience are exempt.Preferred Education: Master’s in NursingRequired License: Must have and maintain current licensure as registered nurse with the North Carolina Board of Nursing. Compact license may apply, licensee should confirm with NCBON; BCLS; International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.Certificate: BLS Healthcare ProviderPreferred License/ Certification: National Nursing Certification in area of specialtyRequired Experience: 2 years in Maternal/Child nursing role including breastfeeding supportPreferred Experience: 3-5 years in Maternal/Child nursing role including breastfeeding supportMission Hospital is located in Asheville, North Carolina.
