**POSITION TITLE:** Custodian/Security (Night Shift)

**FLSA:** Non-exempt

**DEPARTMENT:** Building & Grounds

**JOB SUMMARY**

Responsible for providing a safe and comfortable environment for all employees by maintaining the buildings and grounds in a state of good repair. Responsible for cleaning various areas and maintaining security for Brotherhood Mutual Insurance Company buildings.

**POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

* Preform custodial duties on nightly job check list and assigned by Unit leader/Manager.

* Maintain proper security of the building & grounds including but not limited to answering security alarms, checking doors, and parking lots for snow/ice.

* Be alert to power failure, adverse changes in building temperature, water leaks, etc. and notify Unit Leader/Building & Grounds manager.

* Maintain restrooms with less than 4 complaints recorded during the year.

* Limit all other complaints to 4 per year, this includes but not limited to recycling and trash containers, dusting, vacuuming.

* Comply with preparation of company cleaning solutions and safe use in accordance with company policy and Material Safety Data Sheets.

* Snow removal as needed.

* Participate in OSHA training as scheduled.

* Complete other projects as assigned.

**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES**

* Must have reasonable hand-and-eye coordination skills. Must have mechanical aptitude.

* Must have physical ability to lift and carry 50 lbs., bend, reach and stretch to perform manual labor and lift and handle custodial equipment. Must be able to perform projects in adverse weather conditions.

* Must be able to handle hazardous materials pertinent to the job. Must be able to read and decipher information on Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and container labels and translate information into proper procedures in accordance with OSHA regulations. Must be able to follow instructions.

* Must have good communications skills, can work well with others and maintain confidential information.

* Must have general computer skills.

* Must be able to work flexible hours set by Building & Grounds management.

* Effectively interface with external contacts, Brotherhood employees, managers, and department staff members.

**EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE**

* Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

* Must have 0-2 years experience in custodial/security position.

* Knowledge on carpet and hard floor surface care is desired.
