Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior DB2 LUW Database Administrator to join our team at Datavail. The Senior DBA will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of DB2 LUW database environments to ensure optimal performance, high availability, and data integrity. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of DB2 LUW internals, advanced troubleshooting skills, and the ability to lead database-related projects effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and maintain DB2 LUW database environments to meet business requirements and performance objectives.
  • Perform database installation, configuration, and upgrades in accordance with best practices and industry standards.
  • Optimize database performance through advanced tuning techniques, including query optimization, index optimization, and memory management.
  • Configure and manage high availability and disaster recovery solutions for DB2 LUW databases, ensuring continuous availability and data protection.
  • Implement robust security measures to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor database health and performance, proactively identifying and resolving issues to minimize downtime and optimize resource utilization.
  • Lead database-related projects, including migrations, upgrades, and implementations, from planning and design to execution and post-implementation support.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, system administrators, and business stakeholders, to ensure smooth operation and integration of database systems.
  • Mentor junior team members, providing technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and skills development opportunities.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 7+ years of progressive experience as a DB2 LUW Database Administrator in a production environment.
  • IBM Certified Database Administrator - DB2 certification preferred.
  • Deep understanding of DB2 LUW internals, architecture, and features.
  • Proficiency in SQL and scripting languages (e.g., Shell scripting, Python) for automation and administration tasks.
  • Experience with database performance tuning, high availability configurations, and security implementation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex database issues effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with team members, stakeholders, and management.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying abreast of emerging technologies and best practices in database administration.
