As the AVP, API Governance Lead, you will be responsible for defining and implementing API governance frameworks, ensuring that our APIs are secure, scalable, and aligned with business objectives. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enforce API standards and best practices, fostering a robust API ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • API Governance Framework: Develop and maintain an API governance framework that includes policies, standards, and best practices for API design, development, and management.
  • Security and Compliance: Ensure that all APIs adhere to security protocols and compliance requirements. Implement measures to protect sensitive data and prevent unauthorized access.
  • Standardization: Enforce consistent API design and documentation standards across the organization. Promote the use of common patterns and reusable components.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with product management, engineering, and business teams to align API strategies with business goals. Facilitate communication and coordination across teams.
  • Monitoring and Analytics: Implement tools and processes to monitor API performance, usage, and health. Provide insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks related to API usage and implement mitigation strategies. Ensure APIs are designed for high availability and resilience.
  • Training and Support: Provide training and support to development teams on API standards, tools, and best practices. Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Requirements

  • Experience: 10-15 years of experience in API management, governance, or related roles, with a focus on scalable and secure API solutions. Experience in the fintech industry is a plus.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of API design principles, security protocols, and integration patterns. Proficiency in API management tools and platforms (e.g., Apigee, AWS API Gateway).
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams. Strong ability to drive API strategies and governance initiatives.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Capable of making sound technical decisions under pressure.
  • Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Masters degree or relevant certifications (e.g., API Management certifications) is a plus.
