The Underwriter will be responsible for the pricing and placement of new and renewal business opportunities while maintaining an unparalleled level of service to the agent and broker community. Risk and pricing negotiation along with coverage reviews are critical to the management of the book of business.

Principal Responsibilities
Underwrite new and renewal business using sound analysis and risk assessment techniques.
Adhere to and enforce all Venture Programs Best Practice (Customer) Service Standards.
Develop working business relationship with agencies and clients.
Meet established premium/revenue production goals while maintaining profitability standards set for the program.
Identify opportunities for growth within new and existing production sources. Work in a team environment to drive profitability of the territory and book of business.
Capitalize on internal resources by partnering with Sales and Marketing to better increase opportunity.
Accurately bill bound items within the required timeline.
Review and approve endorsements referred within established guidelines.
Resolve all open issues identified in the Underwriting Quality Control and carrier file audit process within the time frame established; document action taken in writing.
Partner with program Underwriting VP in developing an annual business plan for assigned territory. Analyze and evaluate results on a quarterly basis.
Keep abreast of market trends, competition philosophy, products and distribution systems.
Assist Program Underwriting VP in training newly appointed or hired underwriters, trainees and underwriting assistants in technical aspects of the job.
Maintain program of continuing education; attend insurance seminars as workload permits; participate in Venture Programs in-house training as appropriate.

Requirements
Bachelors Degree Required
Pennsylvania (or domiciled state) Property & Casualty License Required
3-5 years all lines P&C Underwriting experience with carrier authority (more than one carrier experience preferred).
Commitment to program of Insurance Education.
Demonstrated ability to interact with Agents/Brokers.
Organized, independent, self-disciplined, and creative self-starter.
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Familiarity with automated systems, processing and general accounting.
Understanding of business operations and financial structure.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
MGA/MGU Experience
