Job Summary

Senior Project Managers are responsible for planning and managing projects or project components from the design phase through implementation. They gather required information from the client, while leveraging cross-functional relationships, to evaluate and determine objectives, goals, and scope of any given project. They develop detailed project plans and manage all processes throughout the project lifecycle (e.g., resource allocation, progress tracking, monitoring change control processes, testing, documentation, and training). They ensure milestones are achieved, project objectives are met and projects are successfully delivered on time and on/under budget. Sr. Project Managers ensure quality and client satisfaction of technical and non-technical projects. Evaluate current process and practices to develop and implement improvements. The ideal candidate likes to think on his/her feet and have the motivation to drive project success. Leverage your strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and understanding of processes to manage project effectively. Demonstrates a basic understanding and adheres to departmental processes for change control. Maintains a level of cybersecurity knowledge sufficient to securely accomplish their job duties.

Responsibilities

1. Manage projects of complex initiatives that span one or multiple areas 2. Provide leadership for project team by building and motivating team members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones 3. Full project life cycle ownership: successful project delivery will include full implementation from initiation to deployment for one major or several minor initiatives simultaneously 4. Report on project success criteria results, metrics, test and deployment management activities 5. Work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation and excellence 6. Participate in establishing practices, templates, policies, tools and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the organization 7. Prepare estimates and detailed project plan for all phases of the project 8. Procure adequate resources to achieve project objectives in planned timeframes 9. Manage the day-to-day project activities and resources and chairs the project management team meetings 10. Provide status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverable, dependencies, risks and issues, communicating across leadership 11. Understand interdependencies between technology, operations and business needs 12. Manage project scope and changes 13. Participate and/or drive feasibility studies, vendor selections and proposals for evaluation by appropriate key stakeholders 14. Act as an internal quality control check for the project 15. Manage ongoing quality control and participate in quality issue resolution 16. Assist in dispute, negotiation, arbitration or litigation, as needed 17. Develop and manage all aspects of project engagement from planning, external vendor relationships, communications, resources, budget, change, risks and issues 18. Monitor, track and control outcomes to resolve issues, conflicts, dependencies and critical path deliverables 19. Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation and presentations to various audiences, including project team, sponsors, CIO and key stakeholders 20. Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project and program team, analyze results and troubleshoot problem areas 21. Define success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project and program life cycle 22. Identify and develop trusted adviser relationship with project and program stakeholders, sponsors and university stakeholders 23. Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project and program team 24. Deliver appropriate and effective executive level communication 25. Ensure that projects and programs are proceeding according to scope, schedule, budget and quality standards 26. Manage project and program issues and risks to mitigate impact to baseline 27. Continue professional development in order to keep abreast of emerging technologies, methods and best practices 28. Extensive understanding of project management principles, methods and techniques 29. Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Patient Group Knowledge (Only applies to positions with direct patient contact) The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department's identified patient ages. Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients. Competency Statement Must demonstrate competency through an initial orientation and ongoing competency validation to independently perform tasks and additional duties as specified in the job description and the unit/department specific competency checklist. Perform work in alignment with the overall mission and strategic plan of the organization. 8. Follow organizational and departmental policies and procedures, as applicable. 9. Perform related duties as assigned.
