Description

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES

The primary responsibility of the Patient Care Representative is to greet and register patients arriving for appointments with physicians and ensure all required patient information is collected and input. Thoroughly and accurately complete patient registration to include, but not limited to collecting/verifying insurance information and eligibility if not collected in advance of the appointment.

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm - working 1 weekend day a month and 1 late night until 7pm on a rotation basis

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Greets and registers patients in a prompt, pleasant and helpful manner; instructs patients to sign in; request and scan insurance cards; provide the appropriate secretary with the sign in sheet at end of session
  • Verify and update all required information (demographic and insurance) and accurately enter data into Centricity
  • Assures assignment of benefits by obtaining guarantors signature
  • Assures patient has received and acknowledged receipt of OrthoConnecticut HIPPA brochure
  • Assists patients in completing required medical history forms
  • Collects all co-pays, unpaid balances and installment payments, generates a receipt and batches receipts with payments at the end of each session
Qualifications

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • High school graduation or GED; post-graduate degree preferred
  • At least one year of work experience in a medical office setting preferred
  • Knowledge of medical office procedures and insurance verification preferred
  • Ability to demonstrate a mature, dependable, and responsible approach when interacting with patients, physicians, co-workers, and additional outside source
  • Understands referral requirements of major third party payers preferred
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to multi-task
  • Fluency in Spanish a plus
