Cunningham Children's Home, Urbana, IL has an opening for an enthusiastic experienced leader who can manage the day-to-day functioning of a busy residential treatment unit for 10 emotionally and behaviorally challenged youth. The right person for this Coordinator position will provide modeling, coaching, motivation and supervision to a staff of direct-care counselors as they follow established guidelines in maintaining a therapeutic milieu. Understanding of mental health issues is necessary as the Coordinator frequently interacts with youth and their families. Coordinators are leaders and trainers in our program and interface with medical providers and other individuals directly involved with the various aspects of care of our clients. Additionally, Coordinators must become certified trainers (agency sponsored) in crisis intervention and provide training on approved technique to staff following the certification process. Additional staff training responsibility is also expected from this position as needed. Hours are generally Monday - Friday, however there are On-Call and occasional weekend and evening responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will provide staff and youth with an optimistic and supportive environment that works to minimize risk and meet quality standards in a fair and consistent manner. At least 5 years of professional experience in residential treatment area (with children and/or adolescents with severe emotional/behavioral disturbances) is required. At least two of those years must be in a supervisory position. Clinical or administrative experience also preferred. Bachelor's degree required. We require excellent written and oral skills with a strong ability to prioritize, organize, and maintain confidentiality.
