Description:

TEKsystems is seeking Cloud Systems Engineers with at least 2+ years of experience in Public Cloud (AWS, GCP or Azure), 2+ years of Sysadmin experience in Linux/Windows OS, 1+ years of hands-on experience with Terraform and 3+ years of on-call experience responding and leading incident bridges supporting critical applications. This position supports a complex portfolio of applications for both internal and external consumers.

Responsibilities:

Cloud SEs will spend approximately half of their time on project-based work and the other half on operations. This is broken down as follows:

Engineer 25% of their time on planned projects including Vulnerability Remediations, Cloud Migrations, Application refactoring, SSL/TLS Certificates, or removal of technical debt.

An additional 25% of their time will be spent provisioning application Infrastructure modifications within the AWS or GCP environments. This will include scripting (editing or creating new scripts) to automate the provisioning of new AWS & on-prem environments for application deployments using existing Ansible/Chef/Terraform IaC tools. Provisioning and updating environments through SDLC.

Cloud SEs will also focus 25% of their time on Site Reliability Engineering responsibilities to improve the service availability of the applications in their portfolio. This includes working with application developers to find solutions, complete tasks to prevent incidents from ever happening, conduct post-incident reviews, blameless root cause analysis (RCA), document tribal knowledge, document every action to turn repeatable actions into automation and contribute to runbooks and general documentation.

Their remaining 25% of the time will be spent troubleshooting the most important operational issues in production environments. They have a breakdown depending on Priority as P1s are most important, with P2s and P3s behind them. The P1s have several stakeholders on the calls which can average 30-40 individuals yet can go up to 100-120 people on the bridge calls if it impacts the guests.

On-call rotations:

o Primary on-call (heavy volume) is one day a month. If its a weekday, it lasts 12 hours. If its a weekend, its two days. This includes a rotation of 40 Engineers for all PEETI.

o Secondary on-call (light volume) for a smaller sub-set of applications. This segment specific on-call rotation lasts for 1 week and rotates every 6 weeks.
