****GENERAL STATEMENT:****

Under administration direction and Communications Director, directs all activities, staff, budgets, and operations of Pie in the Sky (PITS) Balloon Festival. Provides vision and oversees the execution of the festival and coordinates all aspects of the event.

****ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:****

* Manages full-cycle event planning for PITS, including but not limited to identifying event goals, objectives and requirements, vendor selection and management, promotion and marketing strategies, event implementation, and post-event evaluations.

* Accountable for the continued success of PITS and is responsible for developing strategies for creative revenue generation through sales of tickets, merchandise, concessions, sponsorships, and partnership opportunities.

* Develops annual budget PITS, controls expenditures, and monitors performance to meet revenue goals.

* Develops, plans, implements goals and objectives; provides leadership, direction, and guidance in operational strategies; determines priorities and resource requirements.

* Oversees content on PITS websites.

* Develops and executes event sponsorship programs to secure sponsorship agreements, both cash and in-kind, as well as other partners to promote PITS.

* Serves as media spokesperson for PITS as needed.

* Prepares and presents periodic written and oral reports to City Council, City Management, community groups, and the general public.

* Ensures that all PITS events and activities comply with all local, state, and federal requirements for the given event or activity.

* All other duties as assigned in regard to PITS events and programming.

* Knowledge and experience in working with civic organizations, government agencies, and school groups.

* Developed knowledge and understanding regarding Hotel Occupancy Tax usage regulations and rules.

* Special event planning and organizational skills.

* Interpersonal skills.

* Written and oral presentation skills.

* Knowledge in developing budgets and documentation pertaining to fundraising.

* Ability to facilitate public meetings and other public forums.

* Basic knowledge of local government and inter-agency cooperative planning.

* Experience in developing written materials for distribution to various diverse groups.

* Ability to create engaging displays and public education materials.

* Proficient with Microsoft applications including, Word, Excel PowerPoint, Office365, Adobe InDesign, Acrobat, etc.

****QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, AND/OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:****

* Completion of a bachelor's degree in from an accredited four (4) year college or university.

* Candidate should have proven success in event planning with a minimum of five (5) years experience in event planning, community relations, public administration, or related field.

* Certification in Event Planning is preferred but not required.

* Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Texas Driver's License and be eligible for coverage under the City of Kyle vehicle insurance provider.

****PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:****

Work is performed mostly in office settings. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. Some outdoor work is required in the inspection of various land use developments, construction sites, or public works facilities
