Welder Operator

RESPONSIBILITIES: To set up and adjust drum body welder, flanger, swedger and corrugator to correct settings. To oil and grease on specified daily/weekly schedule. To check steel size and thickness of raw materials used on every bundle. To check quality of weld, flange, swedge and corrugator frequently. To change over three machines to produce different drums, as dictated by scheduled requirements. To carry out minor maintenance overhauls and parts changes. To count and report scrap body sheets. To keep work station clean and tidy. To fill out production reports as required. To carry out other duties as assigned by Supervisor. Will assist the company in maintaining and improving efficiencies. Will ensure all Quality requirements are met. Will participate in Lean and MPS initiatives. Please note that the provisions of this Job Description do not cover all of the other jobs the employee may be assigned. MINIMUM COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS: Education/Skill Grade 12 High School Work Experience Proven mechanical ability Understanding quality procedures Physical Requirements Must be able to work with weights up to 50lb, lifting heavy and bulky objects. Safety equipment is provided by the company. Requires good eye/hand/foot coordination. Ability to lift, climb, bend, stoop, push and pull. Good visual acuity – cannot be color blind. Ability to operate a forklift safely to eliminate personal injury and material damage. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to work in cold, heat and dusty environment; includes occasional work outside in the elements. Ability to safely operate small hand tools.
