Job DescriptionThe Central Coast Service Area covers two hospitals in the beautiful Central California Coast.Nestled on the Central California Coast, Adventist Health Sierra Vista has been providing care to our community since 1959. Our 162-bed acute care facility includes a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and county designated trauma center. San Luis Obispo offers the excitement of a lively community while being a fifteen-minute drive from the serenity of Avila Beach, known for their natural hot springs, and Pismo Beach, known for their sand dunes and eucalyptus trees. Featuring a charming downtown, comfortable coastal weather, idyllic views, and an active lifestyle San Luis Obispo offers much to be had.Located in Templeton amongst the oak trees, Adventist Health Twin Cities has been serving northern San Luis Obispo County since 1977. Comprised of a 122-bed acute care facility, our team provides exceptional care in emergency medicine, orthopedics, obstetrics, digestive disorders, wound care, and various medical, surgical and outpatient services. Locals enjoy weekly farmers markets in downtown Templeton, farm-to-fork dining, beautiful landscapes for hiking and biking, and beach days just fifteen minutes away at Cambria and Morro Bay.Job Summary:Serves as the senior physician leader in the market, with the role spanning medical and clinical staff alignment and engagement, market strategy, and finance and operations-related topics. Leads the organization to bring the clinical voice forward, be the patient advocate, acts as a subject matter expert for clinical staff and administration, and oversees care transformation initiatives directed by clinical cabinets. Leads the roll out of local initiatives within the market, and ensures the overall continuous quality improvement of care delivery. Mentors and develops the existing and future physician and clinical leadership across the market. Provides strategic and operational direction for the delivery of clinical care in close partnership with key clinical and operational leaders to ensure the highest level of patient safety and care.Job Requirements:Education and Work Experience: Bachelor's Degree in business, public health or equivalent combination or education/related experience: Required Master's Degree in public health, healthcare administration or related discipline: Preferred Fifteen years' of progressively responsible management experience within a healthcare system or complex hospital environment: Preferred Ten years' experience as a practicing physician in hospital medicine, primary care or specialty medicine: Preferred Licenses/Certifications: Medical license MD (MD) or Medical license DO (DO) or Physician and Surgeon G (PSG) or Physician and Surgeon C (PSC) or Physician and Surgeon A (MDA): Required Board Certified Physician: Required State medical board licensed: Required Essential Functions: Executes on care transformation plans around the 6 initiatives: clinical leadership, high reliability organization, care redesign, population health, patient experience/engagement and clinical workforce. Leads efforts to roll-out the evidence-based standard of care, improve clinical outcomes, and disseminate best practices for the market in accordance with the care transformation initiatives. Provides oversight and assistance to the Chief of Staff, members of the Medical Executive Committee, and the Medical Staff to assist them in their roles and to maximize the market's culture of patient safety and quality. Acts as a primary clinician liaison to the senior leadership team, Patient Safety and Quality related committees, and the community. Facilitates physician leadership development and education. Leads the market quality/patient safety staff in accordance with care transformation initiatives. Facilitates collegial and effective working relations with all clinicians (e.g., physicians, nurses, physician-assistants, advanced nurse practitioners, and other medical staff members). Provides leadership to improve physician alignment and patient satisfaction. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
