The Aquatic Director is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the pool facility, ensuring a safe, clean, and enjoyable environment for all patrons. This role includes managing pool staff, maintaining pool cleanliness, and ensuring the proper chemical balance of the pool water as well as hiring, training, scheduling staff. scheduling and conducting lessons and programming. The Director must ensure that all staff are certified and well-prepared to handle emergencies. The ideal candidate will have excellent leadership skills, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and customer service. The Aquatic Director works closely with recreation staff. Overall, the role of an Aquatic Director is dynamic and multifaceted, requiring a blend of administrative, managerial, and interpersonal skills to create a thriving aquatic environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Recruit, train, and supervise lifeguards, pool attendants, and maintenance staff.
Schedule staff shifts and ensure adequate coverage during operating hours.
Conduct regular staff meetings and training sessions to ensure compliance with safety protocols and operational procedures.
Foster a positive and professional working environment, encouraging teamwork and high standards of service.
Evaluate staff performance and provide feedback and coaching as needed.
Regularly test pool water to monitor chemical levels, including pH, chlorine, and alkalinity.
Adjust chemical levels as necessary to maintain a safe and healthy swimming environment.
Keep detailed records of chemical testing and adjustments.
Ensure compliance with local health regulations and industry standards for pool water quality.
Oversee the cleaning and maintenance of the pool, pool house and grounds.
Ensure the proper operation of pool pumps, filters, and heating systems.
Address any maintenance issues promptly to minimize downtime and ensure a safe environment for patrons.
Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on all pool equipment.
Greet and assist pool patrons, addressing any questions or concerns promptly and courteously.
Enforce pool rules and safety guidelines to ensure the well-being of all users.
Plan and coordinate pool events, swim lessons, and other recreational activities and add them to our website.
Handle customer complaints and resolve issues in a professional and timely manner.
Oversee accurate daily financial cash out and deposit.
Set up and oversee home swim meets.
Identify trends and opportunities for increased profitability.
Set up and oversee special events at the pool.
Schedule and prepare the pool for dome removal and replacement each season.

Ability to work closely with and coordinate with Swim Team Coaches and staff.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
Participate in training and certifications as they become available.
Ability to work flexible hours including day, evening and weekend hours.
Education, Training and Experience:
Valid Driver’s License
Proven experience in pool management.
Strong Knowledge of pool chemistry & maintenance procedures.
American Red Cross LG, WSI, LGT, WSIT, First Aid, AED/CPR certifications.
Pool Operator certification
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
Hard’ack Pool is a great asset to the community and is open year-round. The Director will be working in all conditions seasonally – heat, sun, rain and outdoor maintenance occasionally in the winter.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
