ABOUT THE CANDIDATE / ROLE

Tradewind Aviation is currently seeking a Staff Accountant to join a dynamic accounting team in our Oxford, Connecticut headquarters. This individual should be a highly organized self-starter able to work both individually and as a team. This role will interact regularly with the accounting team at Tradewind Aviation as well as provide support to all departments. Must be flexible with work schedule and able to work weekends and holidays.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide support to the accounting department and report to the Accounting Manager
  • Verification, tracking, and reconciliation of various expenses incurred by pilots and staff using our Expense Management System
  • Control expense policies and enforce adherence
  • Act as a liaison for vendors to reconcile any billing discrepancies
  • Tax filings including 1099s, Sales Tax Returns for various states, and Puerto Rico Tax Filings
  • Full cycle inventory control for aircraft parts including cycle counting and reconciling to the register
  • Fixed asset tracking and control
  • Creating and maintaining a centralized contract database
  • Maintain vendor database, W9s and ACH payment information
  • Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports
  • Assigned duties as required
Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 1 to 2 years of accounting/accounts payable experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Outlook and proper business email etiquette
  • Excel and Sage experience preferred
  • Familiarity Certify Expense Management and AP Management a plus
  • Data entry & Accounts Payable experience
  • Highly motivated in areas of troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Professional and pleasant phone manner
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift 15 lbs. at times
