Job Summary and Responsibilities

SUMMARY:

Assembles and builds-out telecommunications devices or assemblies that are mechanical or electro-mechanical in configuration; typically containing a rack or cabinet, shelves, back planes, rectifies, heat baffle assemblies, surge protection panels, AC panels, alarms, cabling and other associated telecommunications devices. These assemblies may be fully populated and complex in nature and are assembled with attention to detail and quality needed to meet or exceed KGP and customer expectations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; other duties may be assigned:
  • Must understand and follow KGP Safety practices.
  • Must practice quality awareness and have the ability to implement quality control processes and procedures.
  • Must learn and demonstrate the proper use of tools associated with assemble-wire-test.
  • Performs unpacking, checking for damaged product, inventory of all job-related materials.
  • Reads and stays current on KGP AWT assemble practices and documentation to include interpretation of Engineering drawings, specifications and prints.
  • Maintains appropriate job-related records and administrative tracking requirements.
  • Can plan and manage assembly logistics; can execute physical assembly activities on one or more jobs simultaneously.
  • Performs, as required, preliminary hardware testing in an out-of-service mode.
  • May be required to perform as a designated lead in the supervision of AWT Levels 1 and 2 personnel.
  • As required, must be able to use a computer and the appropriate software applications.
  • Under supervision, performs assigned physical and mechanical assembly activities, including cabling, power connections and grounding.
  • Performs other duties as requested by supervisor.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School graduate or GED equivalent or a minimum of three to five years documented assembly work experience. Requires demonstrated ability to complete and understand complex electromechanical processes and training performed and recorded on Safety, KGP Business Code of Conduct, Quality Assurance and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD). Must have ability to read and understand technical drawings, schematics and documentation. Must have ability to use a personal computer and keep and maintain records, documentation. Should have employee supervisory skills and must have a minimum of two years of AWT Assembler 3 time in grade or documented proficiency before eligible for promotion to AWT Assembler 4.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to: read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to: apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form; ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
