Position Description

X-energy is seeking professionals to join our Engineering team in the role of Manager, Civil Structural Engineering. This role is primarily responsible for providing leadership and management/technical oversight for the civil and structural designs as well as site layout and infrastructure design of the plant. This role manages a team of engineers that direct the technical requirements and configuration of the plant structures and site layout through all project life cycle phases. The position is also responsible for the budget, schedule, and resources for engineering activities under their design team.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the work of the engineers that are responsible for the civil and structural design including oversight of system design work, work planning, monitoring design progress, and controlling the complete engineering effort through all the development life cycles
  • Ensure that the technical work products meet the contract requirements and are delivered on schedule and within budget
  • Provide periodic updates to the management for ongoing activities and progress on engineering deliverables
  • Identify the resources needed to support system design development and allocate existing resources among the civil and structural design teams to ensure project needs are met
  • Interface with Human Resources personnel to assist in recruiting new engineers and conducting interviews with candidates
  • Assist in resolving project related issues (e.g., budget, schedule, risk) with the other Engineering Managers, Internal Stakeholders, and suppliers
  • Identify, report, disposition, and manage risks for work activities related to Civil and Structural designs. Additionally develop, implement, and manage appropriate risk mitigation strategies. Communicate these risks to the management
  • Provide support to ensure that client requirements and expectations have been met
  • Support interfacing and discussions with the construction teams to facilitate design progression for the site layout and civil and structural construction sequencing
  • Provide interface support between systems for each of the civil and structural designs. Communicate system changes between system owners and engineering managers to coordinate updates that occur in each location of the plant site
  • Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager
Minimum Education/Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or related technical field is required
  • Eight plus years Nuclear Engineering experience
  • Five plus years of experience in civil structure design in the nuclear industry, or 10 plus years civil structure design experience for power generation or industrial process facilities
  • A basic understanding of the nuclear regulatory process related to civil and structural designs is required

Work Site Expectations: Onsite/Hybrid (at least 3-4 days per week in company office)

Travel Expectations: 10%

Job Classification: Fulltime Exempt
Hours: 8:00am ET to 5:00pm ET, Monday - Friday
