Job Description:

As the Controller at our client's company, you will play a critical role in overseeing their financial operations and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of their accounting processes. Reporting directly to senior management, you will have the opportunity to leverage your expertise in upstream oil & gas accounting to drive strategic decision-making and contribute to the company's overall success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of upstream oil & gas accounting, including the calculation and reporting of revenues, royalties, land lease expenses, and prorations.
  • Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement financial strategies and objectives aligned with the company's goals and priorities.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented work environment.
  • Conduct regular reviews and audits of financial processes and controls to identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to best practices.
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, vendors, and regulatory agencies, to address inquiries and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Stay abreast of industry developments, trends, and regulations affecting upstream oil & gas accounting, and provide recommendations for adapting to changes and mitigating risks.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in upstream oil & gas accounting, with a strong understanding of revenue recognition, royalties, land lease accounting, and proration methods.
  • Proficiency in financial reporting and analysis, with advanced knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Experience with financial software systems and tools, such as SAP, Oracle, or QuickBooks.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership abilities, with a proven track record of managing and developing staff.
  • Detail-oriented mindset, with a focus on accuracy and quality in all aspects of work.
  • Adaptability and resilience in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
