Description

The Altland House of Abbottstown is currently seeking an experienced bartender to join our team.

Must be 21, RAMP certified, dependable, with a friendly demeanor.

Evenings, Weekends, & Holidays would be required.

Base rate based on experience + tips.

Requirements

WORK PERFORMED (Includes but is not limited to):

  1. Responsible for arriving on time, dressed in appropriate uniform, ready to work.
  2. Perform shift change or opening duties at the bar area such as: check alcohol, beer and wine inventory and restock, if necessary, fill ice bins, prepare glassware washing station, turn on special bar lighting, turn on music, TV's, etc.
  3. Receives special instruction from chef regarding daily specials and additions or deletions to the menu; receives instructions from hostess or manager on duty on functions/parties.
  4. Accomplishes prep work such as washing glassware, slicing and preparing fruit garnishes, and chilling wines as early as possible in shift.
  5. Keeps entire bar areas clean and stocked; prep and stock at beginning of shift so you are ready; restock and clean during shift as you are able; clean and stock at end of shift; clean, wipe down and arrange bottles and glasses to make attractive displays, avoiding clutter.
  6. Acknowledge guests with appropriate greeting, by name if known, takes cocktail order and recites daily specials as soon as possible after customers are seated. Up-sell or influence customers to purchase premium or top-shelf liquor to increase revenue.
  7. Checks customer identification to ensure age requirement is met.
  8. Takes food order for bar customers and answers any questions customer might have about menu or specials.
  9. Prepares standard alcoholic drinks, pours wine and beer, and prepares alcoholic beverages based upon patrons' specific requests. Prepares drinks quickly, accurately, and without waste.
  10. Responsible for maintaining a strong knowledge of lunch, dinner, brunch, and seasonal menus as well as dessert and drink special menus.
  11. Must maintain familiarity with POS system so that orders are placed properly and with sufficient detail for all menu modifications or special requests made by the customer.
  12. Must maintain clear communication with kitchen personnel and front-of-house personnel to ensure that the guest experience is ideal.
  13. Must serve food to bar customers using correct procedures in a timely fashion.
  14. Checks frequently with customers to ensure excellence in food and service and deals courteously with special requests of customers during dining.
  15. Cleans-up all plateware, glassware, silverware, and trash from bar area upon customer's completion of meal.
  16. Responsible for monitoring guest alcoholic intake and "cutting off" a customer if they appear to be intoxicated.
  17. Presents check to guest when they are ready to leave and provide accurate change. Responsible for maintaining checks and cash until end of shift when cashing out with the hostess on duty.
  18. Completes assigned closing duties such as restocking, cleaning, turning off lighting, resetting temperatures controls, locking up facilities, and fulfilling any special instructions from manager.


DRESS CODE: A person employed as a bartender at the Altland House of Abbottstown is required to wear a company appointed shirt, black pants, and black shoes. All shirts and pants must be pressed and cleaned with no visible defects. The employee must practice good hygiene and their hair must be off of their shoulders and out of their face at all times. Tattoos may not be visible and excessive jewelry is not permitted.
