JOB DUTIESUnderstands and applies principles, theories and concepts related to the profession nd ERCOT's culture.Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.Impact is generally limited to specific assignments or projects.May respond to inquiries and/or provide assistance and/or guidance to lower level workers.Level 1- EMS Application Engineer Responsibilities:Works under the direction of a senior level engineer or supervisor/manager to complete departmental goals and assignments.Performs all work according to applicable rules and regulations including regulatory requirements and organization policies and procedures.Member of the 24/7 EMS Applications Engineering support on call team and supports, troubleshoot EMS applications and system on call issues.Assists in the proactive enhancements, improvements and issue remediation.Coordinate application set up and testing with TDSPs, QSEs, LSEs, REs as appropriate.Performs EMS network model load testing on periodic basis and updates the model data in real-time based on established procedures.Design and Test EMS Interfaces and Web & Client/Server applications changes.Verify and support EMS applications during system site failovers, server/system/database upgrades and patchingLevel 2 - EMS Application Engineer Responsibilities:Supports the execution of Disaster Recovery Drills and business continuity proceduresMaintain, troubleshoot and repair EMS and OTS applications and interfaces, and escalate as appropriateMay provide on the job training or help oversee the work of other engineers/analystsAct as a consultant, representative and subject matter expert in project and activities that affect the EMS and OTS environments and applications as appropriateParticipates in multifunctional teams to obtain input, address comments and provide application supportRepresents the EMS Applications Engineering Team at interdepartmental and Stakeholder meetingsLevel 3 - EMS Application Engineer Responsibilities:Provides on the job training or help oversee the work of other engineers/analystsMay act as mentor and advisor to less experienced engineers/analystsWorks independently on assignments and projectsParticipates in multifunctional teams to perform studiesAssists in developing tools, processes and procedures that enhance system reliability and departmental/organizational efficienciesParticipates with other ERCOT departments to select and implement system changes as neededSenior Level - EMS Application Engineer Responsibilities:Serves as the technical Subject Matter Expert for the departmentServes as a Technical Lead for EMS portfolio projects and drives the implementation from incubation to go-live.Makes independent decisions except in instances of unusually complex application scenariosWorks on the most complex application issues where analysis of situations requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factorsWorks with database administrators and infrastructure teams on complex EMS application issues triggered from server/network/storage/database componentsTests Non-Functional requirements of EMS application changes and coordinates with database/infrastructure teams to performs the testsFosters and leverages strong working relationships with other internal departmentsLends professional expertise to guide projects and help teammates assigned by managerDemonstrates skills as an expert user of power system software applications and tools, spreadsheet programs, and database programsMaintains knowledge of emerging trends and industry best practicesAll Levels -- Preferred Work ExperienceExperience with GE or any EMS vendors suite of EMS applicationsExperience with Generation Application, Automatic Generation Control (AGC)Understanding of Generation Control ConceptsExperience with Data Historians such as OSIsoft PIExperience with programming languages such as FORTRAN, C, C++, Java & Perl.Experience with PL/SQLREQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's Degree: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field (Required)Master's Degree: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field (Preferred)or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields is requiredLevel 2 Engineer: Requires minimum 2 years job related work experience in excess of degree requirementsLevel 3 Engineer: Requires minimum 3 years job related work experience in excess of degree requirementsSenior Level Engineer: Requires minimum 5 years job related work experience in excess of degree requirementsSCHEDULE:This position is Remote First. The majority of job duties can be performed remotely from your Texas residence.May be required to be on-site at the Taylor or Austin facilities at least once a month, or more based on the business needs and as determined by the ManagerRemote work is required to be performed from your Texas residence.Work arrangements are subject to business needs and are subject to change accordinglyEmployees may opt to work on-site more than required or 100% of the time
