Job Description

Summary/Objective

The commercial truck driver position is expected to work as a valued member of the shipping and receiving operations. This job consist primarily of operating a commercial tractor and trailer or a straight truck delivering brick and re-sale items ordered by customers to job sites as specified on the sales tickets or to commercial yards and unloading the product using a truck mounted forklift at the designated location as directed by the customer or job site supervisor.

For production material, the commercial truck driver operates a commercial tractor with a dump trailer or a tandem dump straight truck and transports material from the supplier to our production plant.

  1. Operate company-owned and leased commercial truck in a constant state of alertness and safe manner to facilitate shipping and receiving operations.
  2. Operate trucks for delivery, pickup and relocation of brick products and materials.
  3. Perform required before-, during- and after-operation "user maintenance" and provide required reports.
  4. Provide outstanding customer service during delivery and pickup operations.
  5. Operate all material handling equipment.
  6. Maintain all required certifications required by DOT and OSHA and company safety programs.
  7. Maintain and protect all property in excellent condition.
  8. Comply with all FMCSA, DOT and state regulations.
  9. Perform any other tasks assigned to support and improve the overall team operations.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This position is performed in outside weather conditions including extreme heat and cold.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Travel

Travel is local, out-of-the area and some out of state and overnight travel may be expected.

Required Education and Experience
  1. Licensed Commercial Driver with 3 years of experience as a commercial truck driver.
Preferred Education and Experience
  1. High school diploma or GED.
  2. Customer service experience.
