The Role

We are currently sourcing for a Scrum Master to support the Portfolio Construction Delivery Product Area under Fidelity's Financial Institutional Group.

As a Scrum Master, we blend deep scrum expertise with a passion for mentoring, coaching, and continual improvement. We will advise, mentor, coach, and train on performance against agile values, practices, and processes to accelerate squad value delivery. In partnership with the Squad Leader, you will maintain a backlog, help remove impediments and facilitate agile events such as the daily scrum, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives. We will have responsibility for release management coordination and lead scaling events and activities as you manage interdependencies across squads and product areas. You will examine and drive team performance through metrics and find opportunities for the squad to fully realize the benefits of working in an agile structure.

The Scrum Master will support two brand new, cross-functional squads, engaging with all team members and each of the Squad Leaders to reinforce and embed an agile approach into daily work. By demonstrating and promoting Fidelity and agile leadership behaviors, you will evolve and sustain an innovative agile culture with an emphasis on value delivery. Our Scrum Master will be tasked with the challenge of rapidly taking two fresh squads and converting them into high performing teams.

Integrated Portfolio Construction requires an advanced level of managing interdependencies across multiple squads and business units. These connections are new and require a higher level of sophistication in service of the Asset Management business demands, along with delivery of complex technical solutions. The value we bring will empower a team of technologists to improve delivery of model portfolio construction and analytical tools. With your leadership, we want to achieve our goal to scale model manufacturing to automate majority of our business flow and support growth of Assets Under Management from $10B to $35B across the next three years.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree
  • CSM or PSM1 required, A-CSM, PMI-ACP or equivalent preferred.
  • Jira and Jira Align experience required.
  • Financial Industry knowledge preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years Scrum Master experience working in an agile environment.
  • Prior knowledge and/or experience working on database and ETL technologies preferred.
  • Knowledge on data modeling techniques preferred.
  • Knowledge on data processing techniques - batch/real-time preferred.
  • Ability to launch new squads and optimize performance.
  • You possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Can rapidly build trust and positively influence others at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven change agent capable of coaching agile practices to teams and individuals from across different functions, experiences, and geographies as they work through new and unfamiliar situations.
  • You are an effective facilitator and can brainstorm with the team to generate solutions that address challenges and roadblocks to accelerating value delivery.
  • An intellectual curiosity and passion for learning new skills and modeling a culture of continuous learning, mentoring, and coaching.
  • A delivery champion. Manages corresponding logistics, facilitates preparation, and provides transparent leadership through release activities while coaching teams to develop maturity while iteratively realizing production grade outcomes.
  • Skilled in leading effective scaling practices across domain. Coordinate, Facilitate, and Lead scaling events pursuant to Executive Action Team for impediment escalation/resolution, domain planning, and aggregate sprint reviews to illustrate progress with goals and outcome realization pursuant to strategic initiatives intended to win fresh business opportunities for Fidelity Institutional.
  • Advanced experience with dependency management, logistical coordination, and process fulfillment.
