Overview:

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for performing design engineering and analysis. Plans and conducts independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. When assigned, may provide managerial and/or technical direction to other engineers. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

  • Develops and applies broad knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
  • Evaluates, selects, and applies standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform a task or sequence of tasks for conventional projects with few complex features.
  • Prepares plans, designs, computation methods and reports.
  • Works on multiple projects and works closely with multi-discipline project teams.
  • Leads design teams and direct the work of other members.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of all VNSFS engineering and quality assurance procedures.

Accountabilities:

  • Perform all work safely and in compliance with VNSFS policies and procedures.
  • Produce design documents (i.e., calculations, drawings, instructions, etc.) for drafters and others to follow to satisfy the requirements of the customer specifications.
  • Utilize, as well as mentor, other engineers and designers as part of a complete team to ensure design activities, goals, and targets are completed on-time, on budget, and are successful.
  • Provide design documents to Manager or Project Manager in a timely matter.
  • Perform work within budgeted hours and provide status to responsible manager.
  • Attend project meetings and presents specific aspects of engineering assignments
  • Interacts with clients, customers, officials and contractors, as necessary.


Qualifications:

Education & Certifications:

  • A Bachelors degree in related engineering field
  • Professional registration is preferred.

Experience & Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering related field (Advanced degree and/or professional certification can be used as one year of experience).
  • Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories and concepts in the field. General knowledge of other related disciplines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Accurate and strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to support and lead fast-paced design projects.
  • Proficient in MS Office and popular design software.
