Job Description
Overview
At Advocate, our mission is to empower Americans to obtain the government support they've earned. Advocate aims to reduce long wait times and bureaucratic obstacles of the current government benefits application process by developing a unified intake system for the Social Security Administration, utilizing cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, crossed with the knowledge and experience of our small team of EDPNA’s and case managers.
We are seeking a talented and experienced Social Security Disability Case Manager who is passionate about our mission and has a deep understanding of the inner workings of the Social Security Disability office. We are currently a small team, but we are growing our client base rapidly. We are seeking team members who are flexible and comfortable with a fast paced environment, while always putting our claimants first.
Job Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for managing a set of client cases from start to finish. As a case manager, you will serve as the point of contact from a claimants initial application with the Social Security Disability office, through the reconsideration process, as well as assisting our EDPNA’s with appeal and hearing level cases.
In this role you will:
Conduct initial interviews with potential clients to determine eligibility for Social Security Disability benefits
Explain the Social Security Disability process and set expectations for timeline and required medical documentation
Collect detailed medical records, work history, and other supporting documentation from clients
Understand and analyze medical evidence to build a strong case for disability approval
Prepare and submit thorough disability applications to the Social Security Administration
Build rapport with our clients through regular follow ups on application status and responding to requests for additional information
Collaborate with doctors, healthcare providers, vocational experts, and others involved in the disability case
Clearly explain decisions and next steps to clients throughout the process
Maintain detailed records of all client interactions, applications, denials, appeals, etc.
Qualifications
Strong understanding of the Social Security Disability system
Desire for continuous and on-the-job learning
Compassionate, client service and advocacy mindset
Proficient with web based software and communications
Paralegal certification or relevant work experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to synthesize complex medical information
Highly organized and detail-oriented
This is a remote position and Advocate is currently a fully remote team. That said, our lead EDPNA is located in Central Florida and it is our strong preference to build a team in that region.
Advocate is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity in the workplace. We are assembling a well-rounded team of people passionate about helping others and building a great company for the long term.
