Position Reports to: Therapeutic Services Manager

Overview

The Behavioral Health Therapist I plays a pivotal role within the Beyond Dreams Therapy team at the Colorado Dream Foundation, supporting clients' behavioral and mental health needs from ages 5 through adulthood. They act as advocates for youth and families on their caseload and within the broader program of the Colorado Dream Foundation. Essential to this role is the ability to work independently and collaboratively in small team settings, demonstrating strong ethical and clinical skills. Proficiency in managing caseloads, meeting productivity targets, and adapting communication across diverse environments are also vital qualities. The Behavioral Health Therapist I will report to the Therapeutic Services Manager and collaborate across the organization to address community needs.

This position is part of the National Mental Health Workforce Acceleration Collaborative which supports the development of the mental health career pipeline.

Role and Responsibilities:

CLINICAL SERVICE DELIVERY

Therapeutic Service Delivery

  • Provide direct therapeutic care and management of clients, ages four through adulthood, by developing and implementing treatment plans as well as developing a therapeutic relationship with clients (and families, where applicable) to assist with behavioral health challenges.
  • Work effectively with a diverse range of clients at different stages of behavioral health illness/treatment.
  • Maintain appropriate boundaries, identify and nurture client strengths, and support their right to make independent decisions as appropriate.
  • Opportunities to collaborate, lead, monitor, and facilitate educational and therapeutic groups for clients and community members
  • Maintains and submits accurate, detailed, and thorough documentation, case records, and notes of all billable and non-billable activities and services related to client care; completes necessary documentation for billing purposes.
  • Understand and apply diagnostic criteria for various conditions.
  • Perform crisis intervention by responding promptly to client emergencies and taking effective action within the scope of authority.
  • Prepare clear and concise correspondence, client case documentation, and other written materials.
Collaboration & Feedback
  • Collaborate with other Clinical Team members and serve as a liaison with multi-disciplinary team members and external community partners
  • Participate in coaching and feedback sessions with the Senior Director of Emotional Wellness to ensure the successful execution of organizational goals
Data Analysis
  • Complete behavioral health assessments for treatment or crisis intervention
  • Analyze data and prepare case records, reports, and documentation to ensure compliance with state and federal standards of care
SYSTEMS ADVOCACY

Partnership Expectations
  • Play an active role in the development of strong relationships with local community partners and youth programs in the areas of mental health and wellness
Client Advocacy
  • Develop and execute one-time workshops and ongoing stakeholder learning and development courses through the collaborative planning process with community members
Organizations Advocacy
  • Serve as a resource to the organization's overall mission and values through the recruitment of clients in the program
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clinical partners, allowing for the sustainability of the clinical program over time
OTHER DUTIES
  • Building strong relationships with and among clients
  • Independently organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines, and follow up on assignments.
  • Participating in Colorado Dream Foundation all-staff training, meetings, and events
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree in social work, counseling, or a related field.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a clinical setting providing individual or group therapy services (Master's level internship/field placement is acceptable).
  • Hold a valid Colorado provisional license in a mental health field (LSW, LPCC) or be eligible to obtain one within three months of hire.
  • Excellent clinical skills and a thorough understanding of child development and behavior.
  • Proven ability to individualize and use holistic therapeutic approaches to meet the needs of clients, moving them toward the achievement of therapeutic goals.
  • Awareness of trauma-informed care and experience embedding its principles into daily work with youth.
  • Demonstrated belief in the Colorado Dream Foundation and Beyond Dream Therapy's mission and values.
  • Proven track record in creating and sustaining an organizational culture that fosters diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Unwavering belief in the potential for all clients to succeed.
  • Strong team player.
  • Flexible and capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining healthy boundaries.

  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and special events as needed.
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking Spanish is highly preferred.


SALARY AND BENEFITS

This is a full-time, exempt position with a starting salary of $55,000. Opportunities for language differentials and salary increases are available based on certifications and experience. This position is part of the National Mental Health Workforce Acceleration Collaborative which supports the development of the mental health career pipeline. As part of this collaborative, the Behavioral Health Therapist I will have access to licensure exam preparation materials, payment support to cover final clinical licensure costs, and training and technical assistance on their pathway to full clinical licensure.
