The Role

The Senior Business Intelligence Analyst plays a critical role in driving data-driven decision-making within Aspentech. This position involves gathering and analyzing business data from various sources, creating meaningful reports and dashboards, and providing insights to support strategic initiatives. The Senior BI Analyst will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop solutions that enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.

Your Impact

Data Extraction and Transformation: Responsible for extracting data from various sources (databases, Excel files, APIs, etc.) and transforming it into a format suitable for analysis. This often involves tasks like data cleaning, normalization, and structuring. Troubleshoot data integration and data quality issues and bugs, analyze reasons for failure, implement optimal solutions, and revise procedures and documentation as necessary.
Data Modeling: Design and create data models in Power BI. This involves defining relationships between tables, creating calculated columns and measures, and optimizing data structures for efficient querying.
Report and Dashboard Creation: Build reports and dashboards using the data models created. Arrange visualizations, add filters, and create interactive elements to present data in a meaningful way.
DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) Formulas: Write DAX formulas to perform complex calculations and aggregations on the data essential for creating advanced metrics and KPIs.
Data Integration: Work with other tools or platforms like Salesforce, Aha, Azure DevOps, and Qualtrics to integrate Power BI with existing systems, ensuring smooth data flows between different applications.
Performance Optimization: Responsible for optimizing the performance of Power BI/SSRS reports and dashboards, which includes tasks like optimizing queries, reducing data refresh times, and improving visual responsiveness.
Collaboration and Documentation: Work closely with business users and analysts to understand requirements and gather feedback. Additionally, document data sources, data models, and report creation processes for future reference.

What You'll Need

Bachelor's degree in Business, Data Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
Minimum 3 years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analysis, or related roles.
Proficiency in BI tools such as Power BI, SSRS, SSAS, Tableau, or similar platforms.
Strong SQL skills for data querying and manipulation.
Knowledge in data modeling and understanding of database systems.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Effective communication skills for presenting findings and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Ability to work independently and lead projects when necessary.
Optional - Relevant certifications in Business Intelligence or Data Analytics (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate, Tableau Desktop Specialist, etc.).
