Duties: Develop system design packages for gas turbine auxiliary mechanical equipment, primarily the intake and exhaust systems, and work with outside vendors to fabricate the specified equipment, while ensuring that the supplied equipment will meet code, contract, and schedule requirements for Mitsubishi Power America's projects. Prepare and review calculations using good engineering practice and design principles, examples include foundation loading, air flow, inlet/exhaust pressure loss, noise estimation, water chemistry, heating, and cooling. Read and interpret a technical contract with technical requirements and integrate the same into project specific equipment design specifications, while evaluating and maintaining good design practices and Mitsubishi Power base requirements for that equipment. Ensure arrangement and foundation interface information meets project requirements. Interface with internal and external teams to ensure that design interface information for structural commodities is accurate and properly accounted for. Establish corrective actions and lessons learned to reduce nonconformances and improve overall quality of delivered equipment. Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers. Represent the company in meetings with clients and other stakeholders. Ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with applicable codes and standards. Using Intergraph SmartPlant to keep the individual equipment models accurate and up to date in the SmartPlant catalog system. Improve the SmartPlant mechanical/structural equipment models, particularly structures, enclosures, intake housing with ductwork, and exhaust scope to provide a better base design for both project and Supplier work. Generate technical specifications for purchase of assigned equipment, including engineering appendices/drawings (foundation footprint, terminal point locations, penetrations, restrictions/limitations, etc.). Provide regular status updates, including the ability to read, understand, create, edit, track, and report on project schedules and various project deliverables. Propose cost reductions and design improvements to existing equipment designs for Mitsubishi gas turbine auxiliaries to support the overall business. Monitor suppliers and delivery schedules, taking corrective actions where needed to ensure on time delivery. Proactively coordinate across multiple company functions. Support Requests for Proposals and Requests for Quotations (RFP's and RFQ's) by reviewing customer specifications and prepare technical clarifications and deviations. Prepare and review budgets, bids, technical requirements, and commercial requirements. Plan and review deliverable schedules, including project documentation and equipment. Work with suppliers and other stakeholders to develop budgets, schedules, and pricing estimates for project proposals. Act as a subject matter expert for Mitsubishi Power Americas intake and exhaust system design, answering questions and providing recommendations for Proposal Leads. Generate bill-of-material or bill-of-quantity estimates from similar project information for use in proposals. Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures reporting all unsafe activities to Management and/or Human Resources. Participate in initiative-taking team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals. Contribute to building a positive team spirit. Communicate effectively with all levels of employees.

Minimum education and experience required: Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related field plus 4 years of experience as a mechanical engineer working with gas turbine power plants, or related experience.

Skills Required: Must have experience with: CAD and analysis software, including SmartPlant 3D for 3D modeling; and AutoCAD for 2D drawings; Gas Turbine Power Plants and related auxiliary design, with a focus on intake systems, enclosures, exhaust, and access platforms; Experience creating, checking, correcting, and approving engineering calculations, such as pressure loss calculations, evaporative cooler performance, acoustic calculations, and foundation loading; Experience creating, checking, correcting, and approving engineering design drawings, such as piping drawings, equipment layout/arrangements, maintenance access, installation manuals, and O&M manuals; Engineering Standards for filtration, including: ISO 16890; EN 779; EN 1822; ASHREA 52.2; and ASHRAE Handbook of Fundamentals; Engineering Standards for mechanical and structural design, including: ASCE 7 Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other Structures; AISC-LFRD Manual Specification for Design, Fabrication and Erection of Structural Steel; ASME B31.1 Power Piping; IBC International Building Code; OSHA 1910 Occupational Safety and Health Standards; and OSHA 1926 Safety and Health Regulations for Construction; Thermodynamics, psychrometry, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, solid mechanics, large industrial ducts, pressurized equipment, centrifugal pumps, mechanical equipment packages, instrumentation, welding, ferrous and nonferrous materials; Reading and interpreting an end customer contract with technical requirements and integrating it with the company's equipment requirements into project specific equipment design specifications, while evaluating and maintaining good design practices; Providing regular status updates, including the ability to read, understand, create, edit, track, and report on engineering project schedules and various engineering project deliverables across all business level; Proposing cost reductions and design improvements to existing equipment designs for gas turbine auxiliaries to support the overall business initiatives, pursuing approval, and managing implementation after approval; Establishing corrective actions and lessons learned to reduce nonconformances and improve quality of equipment delivered to customers; Gas turbine intake system design and procurement, including: Pressure Loss Calculations; Acoustics; Evaporative cooler control logic review; Evaporative cooler water consumption calculations; Instrumentation review, design, and selection; Filter selection; General Layout; Maintenance access; and Sub-Supplier technical evaluations; and Leading and presenting engineering topics across internal organizational levels and to clients.
