Job Description

Position Title: Flock Specialist

Department: Production

Reports To: Production Manager

FLSA Status:Non-Exempt; Hourly

Job Summary:

As a Flock Specialist you will be one of the most integral members of the team ensuring the health and conditions of the chickens. Flock Specialists also maintain the highest standards of ethical treatment of chickens. Additionally, in this position you will have the crucial responsibility of maintaining the equipment and facilities of the barn - both inside and out.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Ensure the fair and ethical treatment of livestock, ensuring best industry standards while working with all livestock and livestock conditions. This includes following all procedures as outlined by the USDA, FDA, and all other Federal, State, and local government agencies.
  2. Remove daily mortality from all cages and pens.
  3. Walk up and down all rows to fix egg jams.
  4. Pick up eggs off the floor.
  5. Replace all burnt out light bulbs.
  6. Check temperature and water pressure.
  7. Clean water and feed in front and back of barns.
  8. Clean egg transfers.
  9. Blow off egg collectors and fans.
  10. Sweep all walkways and shovel pits.
  11. Blow down front and back of barns.
  12. Catch loose birds.
  13. Work with management to review and analyze production records.
  14. General maintenance of the hen house and systems within it.
  15. Assist the pest control team with our pest control initiatives.


Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Effective communication (written/verbal) skills.
  • Must be able to perform all job duties of the position.
  • Must be able to reach, bend, twist, and lift above the head.
  • Must be able to work in various climate conditions.
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
