Job Description:

Engenium Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Navigational Simulation Instructor to join a dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, modifying and delivering high-quality simulation-based product training programs to maritime professionals. This role involves instructing, evaluating, and mentoring trainees using advanced navigational simulators to enhance their practical skills and theoretical knowledge. Additionally, the instructor will serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in navigational simulation software and associated specialist modules.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct Training Sessions:
  • Deliver comprehensive product training to maritime professionals, Naval and Commercial, online and in person.
  • Develop and implement customized training programs tailored to the needs of individual trainees and organizations.
Training Program & Curriculum Development:
  • Assist in the creation and updating of training materials, multi-media, manuals, and curriculum to reflect the latest industry standards, technological advancements, and the requirements of specific customer projects.
  • Development of Training Programs in support of major customer deliveries - naval and commercial.
  • Simulation exercise development, including logic based units for self-directed learning.
  • Extensive documentation of training programs and associated materials
  • Develop publications such as Technical Papers, White Papers and other expert related materials to support product development, market penetration and knowledge base for competitive advantage.
Evaluation and Assessment:
  • Assess trainees' performance through practical exercises, simulations, and theoretical examinations as needed.
  • Provide constructive feedback and guidance to trainees to enhance their skills and competencies.
Simulation Management:
  • Operate and troubleshoot navigational simulators, ensuring they are in optimal working condition for training purposes.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to simulation equipment when onsite with a customer.
  • Management of third party (external) training resources, regionally and internationally.
Subject Matter Expertise:
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in simulation software and it's associated specialist modules, providing insights and expertise to enhance training programs and customer value.
  • Representation at industry events, conferences and exhibitions.
  • Product demonstrations in support of sales and business development.
Collaboration and Operational Support:
  • Collaborate with other instructors, maritime experts, and industry partners to ensure the highest quality of training.
  • Provide operational support to customers/users with customer support.
  • Support customers in achieving their goals and gain value from their products.
  • Support customer trials, field tests and POC's with product expertise and positioning to the customer.
Qualifications and experience:
  • Qualification in Maritime Studies, Nautical Science, or a related field.
  • Maritime Deck Officer certifications (e.g., STCW, Master Mariner, Chief Mate) or military equivalents is highly desirable.
  • Experience in maritime navigation and/or as a maritime instructor, ideally with extensive use of simulation.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and commitment to quality training.
  • Computer/Tech savvy, with basic networking or computer skills preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous teaching or instructional experience in a maritime training center, ideally with a teaching qualification such as IMO Model course 6.09 and 6.10.
  • Proven experience as a subject matter expert in simulation software to include previous training provided by the manufacturer.
  • Strong understanding of international maritime regulations and navigational best practices.
Additional Notes:
  • U.S. Citizenship or Green Card.
  • Willingness to travel, extensively at times, to support in-person training courses in the USA and abroad.
  • Additional language skills (Spanish) desirable.
  • Ability to speak across multiple organizational levels
  • Public speaking/ Presentation skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Office (essential).
