Monday – Friday The Assistant Comptroller assists the Comptroller in managing the finances. This role involves financial reporting, budget preparation, auditing, compliance, and supervision of the accounting staff. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in governmental accounting and possess excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills. Assist in the preparation of financial statements, budget reports, and other financial documentation. Ensure compliance with government accounting standards and regulations. Analyze financial data to support decision-making processes. Assist in the development and monitoring of the annual budget. Prepare budget forecasts and variance analysis reports. Work with various departments to gather budgetary information and ensure accuracy. Support internal and external audit processes. Ensure financial activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations. Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard public funds. Manage accounts payable and receivable. Maintain the general ledger and reconcile accounts. Oversee payroll processing and related reporting. Assist in the development of financial strategies and long-term financial planning. Provide financial analysis and recommendations to improve fiscal health. Participate in financial policy development and implementation. Key Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, or a related field. CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CGFM (Certified Government Financial Manager) certification is often preferred. Five years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, preferably within a government setting. Experience with governmental accounting standards and practices. Proficiency in accounting software and financial management systems. Advanced Excel skills and the ability to handle large datasets. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders. Knowledge of local government financial regulations and compliance requirements. Familiarity with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and GASB.
