ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned)

  • Assists the Sentriclad Materials Manager and purchasing team in maintaining records such as items purchased, costs, delivery performance, product quality or performance, and inventories, utilizing spreadsheets, graphics, word processing, and/or presentation computer software.
  • Communicates information and reports between various stakeholders, including delivery dates, product information and vendor changes.
  • Maintains and replenishes target stocks levels at processing sites; recommends changes to stock levels to maximize service and inventory turn goals.
  • Organizes, shops and releases freight carriers to ship needed inventory from outside processors/coaters into steel processing facilities or distribution branches on time for required service levels.
  • Evaluates and suggests new inbound logistics solutions to reduce cost or improve service.
  • Coordinates internal freight services to pick up and return from outside processors/coaters.
  • Leads metal claims process with processing centers, distribution points and suppliers to resolve within stated timeframes.
  • Works closely with steel processing, suppliers, and others to determine root cause and identify corrective action for defective or unacceptable goods.
  • Ensures claimed material is shipped or is properly disposed within target resolution time.
  • Monitors and reports damaged/dead/overstocked inventory to expedite the handling of this material via the sales team, vendor returns, transfers and /or scrapping.
  • Leads the metal painting process and mill purchasing process under the direction for the Sentriclad Materials Manager.
  • Supports the Sentriclad Materials Manager in the metal painting process and mill purchasing process as necessary.
  • Responsible for additional supply chain support including order expediting, back-order tracking, forecast exception reporting, AP variances, and other activities.
  • May assist in other supply chain duties as necessary.
  • Travels as necessary for meetings with branch/steel processing centers, suppliers, and training.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

None required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree or relevant industry experience in buying and planning in a manufacturing or commodities environment, knowledge of inventory planning systems and techniques, experience planning and forecasting and strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work involves standing and walking for brief periods of time, but most duties are performed from a seated position. There is potential for eye strain from reading detailed materials and looking at a computer screen. Work normally requires finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to operate computer keyboards at a moderate skill level. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear.
