R&D Lab Director

Job Description

Our client is looking for a highly motivated and hands-on Lab Director to manage its R&D lab operations, guide experimental activities, and support all related R&D activities. The ideal candidate combines his/her R&D lab experience with excellent operational and project management skills.

This position will report to the Vice President of Research and oversee the day-to-day operations of their upstream/downstream lab teams. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to apply their enthusiasm and technical skills while working with cross-functional teams to ensure effective and efficient laboratory operations and will provide operational and technical expertise to influence business decisions made by senior leadership.

Responsibilities

Planning, coordinating, and managing the R&D experimental laboratory workflow
Working on multiple complex projects while adhering to timelines and adapting to changes in project priorities
Provide oversight and management of all R&D laboratory functions, inventories, equipment, and vendor relations
Working with subcontractors/vendors as needed
Assisting in experimental design, data analysis, troubleshooting, developing and finetuning experimental protocols
Guiding and mentoring new employees

Requirements

BS/MS/PhD in Biotechnology/Biology /Life sciences or similar field
10 years of experience in the biotech industry
Excellent program/project, time management, and communication skills are a must
Understanding of Upstream and Downstream equipment and techniques
Experience in lab operations/management
Strong scientific acumen and the ability to work with cross-functional teams
