Are you looking for a position to expand your financial counselor experience in the healthcare field? Dayton Physicians Network is looking to add a Financial Counselor to our Troy and Englewood locations for our Hematology Oncology group.

The Patient Financial Counselor assists patients and/or support person(s), as designated by the patient, in determining options for paying for services prior to the initiation of treatments and/or physicians visits. The patient financial counselor assists the patient and their support person(s) with application for financial assistance programs and/or insurance coverage. This position is responsible for the verification of insurance prior to the initiation of treatment to confirm correct insurance and coverage.

Schedule:

Monday through Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm, 8 hour shifts

3 days at our Englewood Office, 2 days at our Troy Office

No weekends, evenings or holidays

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Verifies patient insurance and coverage for services recommended prior to the initiation of treatment and/or injections;
Discusses with the patient and/or support person(s) programs and methods to assist in paying for services;
Determines if the patient is a candidate for financial assistance programs;
Collects deductibles and out of pocket costs before patient is scheduled for treatment;
Assists the patient and/or support person(s)with applications for payment assistance services;
Assists in registering patients for medication assistance and transportation for patients receiving treatment;
Maintains contact with patient and/or support person(s) on regular intervals to assure application for assistance programs is completed and received by the agency;
Informs and assists the patient and/or support person(s) in a professional and effective manner to assure compliance with financial applications;
Assists with pre-certification of chemotherapy drugs and other ordered services as needed;
Works in collaboration with Accounts Receivable Specialists and other billing personnel to assure timely and accurate payment of services;
Continuously stays abreast of insurance, registration and billing changes, including Dayton Physicians, LLC policies;
Follow all health care privacy and safety rules and adheres to Dayton Physicians Core Values;
Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and/ or Experience:

High School Diploma or GED required.
One (1) year of previous experience working in a Medical Office
2-3 years medical billing experience, medical registration and/or financial aid experience is preferred.

General Skill Requirements:

Excellent oral and written communication
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
Experience working with a Practice Management system.
Attendance and punctuality are essential requirements of this position to provide excellent customer service to both our internal and external stakeholders.
