Staff Accountant II

Accurately record and interpret assigned financial and accounting transactions, consistent with approved and prescribed accounting policies and procedures, to maintain an accurate system of accounts for financial reporting with a focus on the Work Order, Fleet Management, and Asset Management processes.
Prepares ledgers, journals, registers, and subsidiary records in conformance with generally accepted accounting practices and procedures.
Maintains subsidiary records for construction and retirement work in progress, records services added and retired, closes work orders and is responsible for inventory of work orders, special equipment summaries, and maintaining CPR records to update and maintain the SVEC electric plant records.
Files appropriate records with the FPSC for proper compliance with completed work order inspections.
Reviews open work orders for accuracy and determines if any work orders should be written off.
Balancing contract construction invoices before processing payment.
Responsible for Fleet Management reporting, including maintaining and accurately managing the subsidiary ledger and retaining current fleet asset records.
Responsible for Asset Management, including accurately recording all assets to the general ledger with supporting documentation, setting up assets to be capitalized, and retaining current asset records.
Perform monthly balancing and closing of general ledger accounts as assigned.
Assist CFO and other senior management on various finance and accounting matters, as assigned.

Essential Skills and Experience
:
Must have a bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or finance.
Previous bookkeeping/accounting experience.
Good computer skills including a thoroughly proficient command of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Good writing and communication skills.
Must have good time management and organizational skills.
Must clearly understand and follow good confidentiality practices.

Prior Electric Cooperative job experience
Successful completion of the RUS Borrower Accounting (Electric) course
Previous accounting experience
